Mission

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” Matthew 28:19

The mission of Christ’s church is to make and mature disciples who follow Him in joyful obedience. When we find our identity in the person and work of Jesus, we also find our purpose in Him as well. God saves His people and and sends us out to proclaim the good news of His gospel: that He sent His Son to redeem the world and create a new humanity that exalts Christ in all things (2 Cor 5:17–20). Because the global nature of the church’s mission can feel daunting and overwhelming, we focus on three ways that we can be faithful participants as a local congregation: Share the Gospel (evangelism), Bless the City (mercy), Reach the Nations (global missions).

Share the Gospel

Evangelism is often a process—God will likely use many people planting and watering seeds before a person bears the spiritual fruit of faith, repentance, and the newness of life. As we remain prayerful, winsome, bold, and courageous, He is the one who makes them grow and thus is worthy of our thanks and praise (1 Cor 3:7). We desire to make everyday decisions for the sake of the gospel and the good of our neighbors. In addition to living with missional intentionality, we also want to be prepared to have meaningful conversations about the Lord, His character, His work in the world, and His saving gospel should He provide an opportunity.

Bless the City

We want to know and care for the needs of this wonderful community in which God has placed us. We want to do helpful, restorative good in our community in Jesus’ name to reflect God’s character and promise to make all things new, so that the primary task of proclaiming the gospel and making disciples can be fulfilled (Jer 29:7; Matt 25:35–40; Gal 2:9–10). Our God is a just and merciful God, and we get the joy of manifesting His character for the sake of those in need, both spiritually and physically. The gospel of Jesus Christ reveals that God has acted graciously, generously, and sacrificially on behalf of His people, the spiritually poor and helpless. Therefore, we are passionate about partnering with organizations that serve orphans, refugees, and families in need. Our goal is not to reinvent the wheel; we desire to strengthen existing affiliate organizations with our resources and service. Here are some partner organizations we know, trust, and love:

Reach the Nations

The goal of global missions is the worldwide worship of Jesus Christ by His redeemed disciples from every nation, tribe, people, and tongue (Ps 67; 96:3–7; Matt 28:18–20; 1 Pet 2:9–10; Rev 5:9–14). We long to be a sending church (Acts 13:1–3), sacrificing our time, resources, and people for the good of Christ’s church around the world, focusing on unreached people groups in the 10/40 window. We currently support members we have sent from our church, and are also a host church for the Perspectives course in Houston. The purpose of Perspectives is to mobilize by educating the Body of Christ in the United States to strategic engagement in God’s global purpose.
