“Preach the word; be ready in and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” 2 Timothy 4:2

The purpose of corporate worship is to receive by faith God’s gracious service to us in Christ and to respond with thanksgiving by worshiping God in what is called covenant renewal worship. At the center of each of our worship services is the ministry of the Word, where God consecrates us by instruction in His Holy Scriptures, and the ministry of the Table, when He invites us to commune with Him over a fellowship meal, the Lord’s Supper.

The primary diet of preaching at Christ Our Hope is expository, which seeks to expose God’s people to God’s Word, one passage at a time. The goal of expository preaching is to proclaim the intended meaning of Scripture for the purpose of maturing hearers. Typically, we will preach through entire books of the Bible (or portions of longer books), although we may have topical sermons from time to time or special sermon series for seasons in the Christian calendar like Advent and Lent. We are utterly convinced that the Bible’s words are God’s true words, which have real power to transform lives, so we seek to follow His voice carefully (John 17:17).
